about blogs and songs

i am a horribly inconsistent blogger.

realised that i’ll be going back in less than 2 months’ time and yet i have yet to blog about life here in lboro and the discovery, travel and living adventures i’ve been having. there’s just too much to tell and not enough time.

but, i can start somewhere. i can share with you (more) youtube videos on my favourite songs to travel to and let you imagine the english landscape for yourself. enjoy.

(this music video is a bit weird but it’s a nice song to just cruise to. great for listening to when running too)

(this one is more a chill-out song when you’re feeling laezy. my version of ‘three little birds sat on my window’ is two fat pigeons sitting on the tree outside where i can see them from my room with a view. while i havent seen wheat fields (yet) like in the video, the space in the video is the space i see and feel here. ’let your hair down’)

oh dear..

oh dear, i think i’ve got what people call homesickness.

looking at pictures of friends and family more often, wanting to go back to familiarity, feeling moody sometimes for little apparent reason, wanting to be alone more often… are these symptoms?

maybe it’s just back-to-school-blues-after-travelling-for-about-a-month.

maybe it’s travel fatigue.

maybe it’s a combination of two or three of the above.

either way, i still miss home. while there are still many things i want to do and see here, i am also looking forward to going back.

how?

i commit these feelings to You God. while i am okay and thankful that You have given me these opportunities and are drawing me nearer to You, i am also just feeling okay, only so-so. teach me what You want to teach me here.

to everybody back home: i’m missing you all!

first post :)

“today is where your book begins/the rest is still unwritten…”

 me.jpg  hello world!

took me a while to come up with a username but i finally settled on this one. it has a nice ring to it don’t you think? the “ii”s eyes wordplay in it is also nice although it was quite coincidental.

you may be wondering why i chose this seemingly long squashed up username (other than because of the way it looks and sounds). i think i chose it because it’s sort of a template phrase for the things that are going to happen this year: seehwei-turning-twentyone, seehwei-living-her-twentyoneth-year, seehwei-(hopefully)-running-twentyoneK among others etc.

the number twentyone is also linked to milestones. my family’s theme for the year is making milestones and the milestones for me this year will not only be me turning 21 but also me studying and living overseas for 5 months. i hope to use this blog to keep in touch with people back home while i’m in britain. do check my blog and write me when you can yah? i would love to hear from you :)

i also want to jot down my theme verse for year 2008. this year, my theme verse is from isaiah 26:3 -                                                                                                                                “You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast because he trust in you.”

was looking through the different versions found at www.biblegateway.com and it helped me understand the verse better. “perfect peace” can also mean ”constant peace” and ”true peace”; in one version, it reads as ”completely whole”, something i would like to strive to become. for “mind”, one version had an added parenthesis which read like this: “mind [both inclination and character]“. i was initially most confused about ”steadfast” but after looking through the different versions, i now know that it means being “set”, “stayed”, “fixed” on God. lastly, for the word “trusts”, trust also involves “leaning on”, “hoping confidently in” and “confiding in” God. interesting yah? :)

so…                                                                                                                                                    to wrap up, i hope to add many more posts in addition to this first post and keep in touch with YOU in the future. (please be patient with me as i’m still trying to figure my way around haha.) blessed 2008 to everybody! forever 21… :)
